Team Rector to step down at Easter

The Revd Canon Jane Maycock who is married to James, the Team Rector has now been appointed to be Canon Missioner and Residentiary Canon at Durham Cathedral, and will take up her post after Easter. James and Jane are both delighted with her appointment.

As a result, however, James will be standing down from his role as Team Rector, and his last service in the Team will be on Easter Day.

James says: “There will be real sense of loss in leaving, after over 27 years in Bowness, and over six years ministering in the Team. God is good, and will continue to sustain us in our life together as his people. I know you are in good hands with Olivia, and with your support and the support of our retired clergy the Team will not tread water during the vacancy, but continue to seek to discern the leading of the Holy Spirit and to move forward in mission and worship.”

Archdeacon Vernon will attend at the end of the joint PCCs’ day on Saturday 31st for a conversation about the vacancy, and about ministry provision and ministry offer for the South Lakes.

News releases have been published on the Carlisle Diocese website and the Durham Cathedral website, and a copy can be found here.
